Furthering the theory that the shortest route is not always the best route, the Pintler Scenic Byway adds 20 miles to the more common path from Warm Springs to Drummond, via I-90. Experience old west Montana, lakes and mountain passes through Philipsburg. Double back or complete the loop on I-90, through Deer Lodge, home of Montana’s old and new state prisons.

DIRECTIONS:

Starting in Warm Springs, travel west on MT-48 to Anaconda, connect to MT-1 west along the shores of Georgetown Lake. Continue north to Drummond and complete the loop to Warm Springs along I-90 East.
